B2B lead generation for small businesses

B2B lead generationfor small UKbusinesses.

If you sell a service to other UK companies — bookkeeping, IT support, design, recruitment, consultancy — ClientFinch helps you build a focused list of limited companies that fit, using the official Companies House register instead of a bought database.

01

Built for small teams

No sales team, no data budget? Search, shortlist and export on a free account in the time it takes to drink a coffee.

02

Official, current data

Results come straight from Companies House, so you see a company’s current status, registered office and industry codes, not a list compiled years ago.

03

Specific to what you sell

Filter by the exact SIC codes your best clients trade under and the towns you can serve, so every name on the list is plausible.

Why small businesses struggle with B2B lead generation

Most small service businesses grow on referrals. That works until it does not: a big client leaves, a referral partner retires, or you want to move into a new sector. At that point the usual options are expensive (agencies and data subscriptions), slow (manually browsing directories) or risky (bought email lists of unknown origin).

The good news is that every UK limited company and LLP is listed on a free public register. Companies House records when a company was formed, its registered office, its status and the Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) codes that describe what it does. That is enough to build a genuinely targeted list — if you have a sensible way to search it.

A simple weekly prospecting routine

You do not need a complex funnel. A routine you can repeat every week will usually outperform an ambitious campaign you never finish.

  1. 01Pick one sector and one area for the week, such as dental practices in Bristol or construction firms in Kent.
  2. 02Search ClientFinch with the matching SIC codes, the location and “Active” status.
  3. 03Open each promising company, check the profile and the official record, and look at the company’s own website.
  4. 04Save the ten best fits and write a one-line note on why you are contacting each of them.
  5. 05Export the shortlist to CSV and work through it, keeping your notes up to date as conversations progress.

What the register can and cannot tell you

Companies House data is excellent for answering “does this company exist, what does it do and where is it registered?”. It does not include email addresses, phone numbers, turnover for small companies or how many people work there. ClientFinch is honest about that: it helps you decide who to approach, and leaves the contact research and the conversation to you.

Sole traders and most partnerships are not on the register at all, so if your ideal clients are self-employed tradespeople you will need other sources too. For limited companies, though, the register is the most complete and up-to-date starting point available.

Filters to use

Build the right list.

SIC industry codes
Combine up to five codes — for example 69202 (bookkeeping) and 70229 (management consultancy) — to match the sectors you know best.
Registered office location
Enter a town, city or postcode to focus on companies registered near you. Remember that the registered office is not always where a business trades.
Incorporation date
Target newly formed companies that are setting up suppliers for the first time, or established companies that have been trading for years.
Active companies only
Every company in ClientFinch has the legal status “Active”, so you never waste an hour on a business that has been dissolved or is in liquidation.
